Job Description:
Head and overall in charge of Library/ Resource Centre and shall function under the guidance of Director/ Library Advisory Panel and Activity Chairperson, Resource Centre.
Digitization of the important and valuable resources in the KMC, procurement of relevant e-books, e-magazines/journals, to ensure and strengthen the security systems at the Library- Resource Centre.
Library- Resource Centre Memberships, circulation, reader related issues, etc.
Acquisition procedures, approvals, sanctions, etc. from the competent authorities.
Classification of books and AV materials.
Archival Collection, classification, restoration, maintenance, etc.
Institutional contacts (memberships, Inter Library Loans, reference services, etc.)
Reference services to NID community and ongoing research related projects at NID.
Research based services to faculty and project teams
Tasks related to reorganizing the Design Classic Collection
Managing Acquisition Procedures, Classification and Cataloguing,
Subscriptions/Renewals, Managing the special collection of Documents & AV materials.
Tasks related to developing a Material Sample Library at NID.
Annual budgeting and advance planning for procurement of Library- Resource Centre resources.
Continuous collaborative support to Research and Publications dept. for NID’s own publication projects.
Convening Library- Resource Centre Advisory Panel meeting periodically.
Planning and organizing various events like book reading, book reviews displays, etc. in consultation with the Library- Resource Centre Advisory Panel, to increase the users of the services.
To create proactive Library- Resource Centre linkages with NID’s academic programmes and research projects by collaborating with the coordinators and faculty members. Active support of Library- Resource Centre for courses as per the annual timetable should be provided.
Close coordination with Research & Publications for realising publications from NID archives.
To explore possibilities for revenue generation for Library- Resource Centre through various means.
Development of prototype collection and material library.
To take proactive initiatives for Digitization of NID archives.
Any other tasks as assigned by the Director.

Ph.D. Admission Notification 2019 at Kumaun University, Nainital : Last Date 03/03/19
A. Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Entrance Test:
1- Candidates aspiring to participate in the Kumaun University’s Research Degree Entrance Test (RDET)-2019 must have a Master’s degree of the Kumaun University (hereafter referred to as University) or of any other University incorporated by the law in force and recognized by the UGC; provided also that the candidate fulfills following criteria:
(I) Candidate should have secured at least fifty five percent (55%) marks (without rounding off) OR a grade point average equivalent to 55% marks (without rounding off) at the Master’s degree examination. For Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to noncreamy layer/SC/ST/Physically Handicapped (PH)/ Visually Handicapped (VH) Candidates, the minimum marks shall be 50% (without rounding off).
(II) (Candidates appearing/appeared in PG Final Year Semester Exam of the Kumaun University or its affiliated colleges/ institution only may also apply provisionally for the Research Degree Entrance Test (RDET)-2019 (recommendations of Academic Council, Point 02, Dated.06.03.2013). Under this criteria the appearing candidates of universities other than Kumaun University are not eligible.
(III) Candidate is a regular teaching faculty member having served the Kumaun University or the affiliated degree colleges of the Kumaun University for a period of minimum of one year in the University or the Colleges/Institutions affiliated to the Kumaun University as per University/State Govt. Rules.
b. A candidate shall ordinarily be permitted to work for the Ph.D. Degree in the subject in which he/she has obtained Master’s Degree, however, research work leading to Ph.D. Degree may also be allowed in allied subjects in the same or any other Faculty, if the Research Degree Committee (RDC) of the concerned discipline is satisfied and approve that the candidate possesses the requisite qualifications to take up the proposed research work. Allied subject for the above stated purpose must have been approved by the Academic Council of the University.

(ii) Paper shall contain 100 objectives/multiple-choice type questions and each question shall carry one mark with no negative marking.
(iii) No scrutiny/revaluation of the answer sheet of the written test shall be conducted.
(iv) The Qualifying Percentage of Marks in the Entrance Examination will be :- General-50%, OBC-45% and SC/ST/VH/PH - 40%.
(v) Admission to the PhD programme in each subject shall be made strictly according to RDET merit list against the available seats in the concerned subject in the University campuses and affiliated colleges. Mere qualifying the RDET does not mean any confirmation or claim for getting admission in the PhD programme of respective subject. Therefore, it should be noted that the allotment of PhD seat in respective subject shall be made strictly according to RDET merit list only.
(vi) Reservation Policy of the State of Uttarakhand shall be followed for RDET candidates. The reservation shall be applicable to those who have domicile and reservation certificate of Uttarakhand state only. Reservation certificate of other states are not considered.

IFLA New Professionals WLIC Attendance Grants : Last Date 15/03/19
IFLA New Professionals WLIC Attendance Grants
It is our great pleasure to announce a new category of grant, specifically targeting new professionals with 3 to 10 years of experience. These grants aim to empower and motivate newer librarians to engage with the international library field. The IFLA New Professionals grant will provide support for delegates to attend the IFLA World Library and Information Congress 2019 in Athens, Greece.
Applicants must be able to attend the Congress and will be responsible for all other costs associated with Congress attendance.
Successful applicants will be notified that they have received a full registration to the Congress by April 16, 2019. Applicants must confirm their attendance within two weeks of notification.
What does the grant cover?
The grant will cover the full registration fee which will be done through an online booking system, using a special code.Applicants must be able to attend the Congress and will be responsible for all other costs associated with Congress attendance.
Eligibility
- The grant is available to librarians and library workers from all library types.
- The applicant should have 3 to 10 years of experience in a library or information service.
- The applicant must be a member of his/her national library association.
- Priority is given to applicants who are a first-time attendee to the IFLA World Library and Information Congress.
- The applicant must be eligible to obtain a visa for travel.
- The applicant must declare that she/he is able to fund all other costs beyond the grant that are involved in attending the Congress, e.g. all other hotel, travel and subsistence expenses NOT covered by the Grant.
How to apply?
The application should include a single file combining the following documents:- Motivation letter, outlining the professional benefit for them to attend WLIC (max 300 words);
- One-page Curriculum Vitae containing academic qualifications, work history and involvement in professional activities or library innovation projects;
- A declaration that the applicant is able to fund all other costs beyond the grant that are involved in attending the IFLA WLIC, e.g. all other hotel, travel and subsistence expenses not covered by the grant;
- Proof of membership of national library association (i.e. copy of membership card, letter from the association etc.);
- A statement indicating that you have approval from your employer, if you are a recipient of this Grant, to attend the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Athens, Greece.
