International Conference Of University Librarians Association - ICULA 2019 on 09 August 2019, Mount Lavinia Hotel, Colombo : Last Date 15/04/19

Main Theme of the Conference 2019
“Reinvigorating Libraries : Smart Responsiveness for Sustainability”

With the mass generation of data, information storage and maintenance concerns have amplified the skill set defined by the term librarianship. Hence, a revitalization of knowledge is required to satisfactorily fulfill this role.
Currently, libraries are defined by the value of the information they hold as opposed to the amount of information as assessed in the past. In the sense of the value of information, the quality, timeliness, accuracy, validity, stability, and accessibility are only a few features to name some. Hence, libraries are faced with the challenge to present information that has quality over quantity. Users approach libraries with specific requirements rather than a general purpose. In the case of the unavailability of their required materials, users tend to leave the premise instead of garnering contents from alternative resources in that library. So, in order to retain readers and render useful services, it is the prime duty of the professional librarians to accumulate a vivid knowledge on their reader base, the target's requisites and upgrade the quality of not only the information content but also the library premise that serves as a platform of information for self-directed learning.
With the above understanding of the need for enhancement in the field of librarianship, the University Librarians' Association of Sri Lanka will be proudly organizing a two-day International Conference on “Reinvigorating Libraries: Smart Responsiveness for Sustainability”.
Objectives of the Conference
The main focal attention will be directed toward the library and information science professionals and educationalists within the library and information science arena. Key areas of interest will be, but not limited to, transforming libraries for future sustainability, optimizing the role of the professional librarian to better contribute towards user-oriented library services and research on information quality acquisition and improvement for library resources. Ideas, innovations, implementations, and proof of concepts will be encouraged by authors in the form of papers. Selected papers' authors will be invited for the Oral / Virtual presentation of their paper.
Expected Outcomes of the Conference
A major outcome from this International Conference will be an evaluation of the current state of the Libraries with the evolving trend of Information Technology.
Gathering a pool of academic professionals to share and discuss concepts, breakthroughs, and elucidation that will positively reinforce the functionality of libraries.
Provide a platform for researchers to present and findings related to the conference theme and engage in conversations will fellow academicians on the related area of work.

Call for Papers in the ILDS 2019 Conference on "Beyond the Paywall: Resource Sharing in a Disruptive Ecosystem" on October 9-11, 2019 at NTK, Prague : Last Date 31/03/19

Call for Papers
The IFLA Document Delivery and Resource Sharing (DDRS) Standing Committee is pleased to announce the 16th ILDS (Interlending and Document Supply) Conference, hosted by the National Library of Technology (NTK) in Prague, Czech Republic. The Conference will be held October 9-11, 2019.
With the Conference, entitled Beyond the Paywall: Resource Sharing in a Disruptive Ecosystem, the DDRS Standing Committee would like to challenge the interlending and document supply community to consider strategies for contending with an increasingly complex global information environment.
Key questions we wish to examine in the Conference include:
– How should we, members of the global DDRS community, provide a strategic response to a rapidly shifting ecosystem in which publishers, libraries, and users are dealing with new open access mandates, possible “big flips”, new options for document search and delivery (beyond P2P, including direct publisher-to-user delivery), cost impediments, and other challenges?
– Is it possible to leverage our already-existing global infrastructure to keep the library relevant as the ecosystem continues to evolve? How can we contribute to the development of global delivery solutions which are innovative, stable, and resistant to the whims of the marketplace and accessible to all? What might be our roles in the next stages of development of global academic research support (including publishing) infrastructures? In the advancement of trusted public information infrastructures? In relation to regional copyright regimes and in relation to various content format types?
We welcome thought-provoking papers from libraries, publishers, and end users which discuss these challenges from a strategic perspective.
Suggested Topical Areas may include but not limited to:
– Beyond the Paywall: Coming to terms with, thinking strategically about P2P, open access, e-only content, grey literature, and beyond
– Power Shift: Strategies for staying relevant in the publisher-to-user delivery era
– The Digital Divide: Pressing issues for improving access to resources for all members of our community
– Copyright: Approaches to ILL for various format types not under public domain from the perspective of different legal traditions
– Collaboration: Interacting with current and planned regional storage projects (e.g., ReCAP, British Library, Kooperative Speicherbibliothek Schweiz)
– Assessment: Demonstrating value and impact of resource sharing on scholarship, research, and student success
Selected papers from the conference will be published in Information Discovery & Delivery Journal (IDD), and authors are encouraged to submit their conference papers with some extension to IDD; for example, papers about possible strategies for improving “the digital information supply chain, i.e., conception, flows, adaptation, exchange and sharing.”
Proposals for papers should be sent to Peter D. Collins, (pcoll@pobox.upenn.edu) no later than March 31, 2019 and should include the following details:
– Author(s) name, title, institution, and contact information
– Brief biographical sketch
– Title of paper
– Abstract (200 to 300 words)
Selected paper will be notified by: April 30, 2019
Deadline for paper submissions: July 30, 2019
Registration is now open.
We look forward to seeing you in Prague.
