About the Seminar
The Society for Information Science (SIS) was formed in 1975 to promote interchange of information in the discipline of information science and its subdivision amongst the specialists and between specialists and the public. The Society aims to foster a sense of partnership amongst the professionals engaged in these fields. The Society is firmly committed to provide a congenial environment for interaction among information innovation, industry, technology management and services which are socially relevant in the interest of the Nation. The SIS functions through an Executive Committee consisting of experts from different institutions and assisted by various sub-committees for carrying out its programmes.
The SIS Annual Convention is a hallmark event of the Society. The Society is organizing this year's Annual Convention as the Seminar on ‘Information Science and Communication: Opportunities, Expectations and Strategies’.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the forefront the importance of information science and science communication. The Seminar will focus on the new opportunities, expectation, and challenges in the field of information science and communication.

Online Application Form for Apprentice in Library and Information Science at ICSSR- NASSDOC, New Delhi.
Applications are invited from graduates for one-year Apprenticeship Program at the National Social Science Documentation Centre of the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi. The candidate must have recently obtained degree / diploma in Library and Information Science and should not be born before 1st January 1991. Total six positions are available with the stipend of Rs.15000/- per month. The candidate must possess the knowledge of computers, library automation, library software and data entry skills. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PH categories will be provided as per the norms of the Central Government. Only unemployed SC and ST Category candidates will be reimbursed 2nd class sleeper rail fare/bus fare from the shortest route on production of the original tickets. They must also submit an undertaking regarding their unemployment.

The shortlisted candidates will be called for written test consists of multiple-choice questions in Library and Information Science and Computer Skills.
